I met author, Maggie Messitt while we were artists in residence at Grin City Collective, in Grinnell, IA in Spring of 2015. I was working on Objects to Remember You By: An Index of Sentiment and In Search of Home. We discussed our mutual interest in history and story telling, and she disclosed that she spends her free time doing genealogical research on her family. She is working on a book about her aunt Debbie, and while at Grin City, she and while in residence, she spent a day writing Debbie's obituary. Soon after leaving Grinnell, Maggie relocated to Pittsburgh, PA. I went to Pittsburgh that winter and was able to spend some time with Maggie and she commissioned me to make these photographs of the objects she is writing about for her upcoming book.
